About Liz

In my art work, I strive to capture the essence of my two main passions – nature and dogs.  While flat-coated retrievers have stolen my heart, I enjoy all dogs and particularly relish the challenge of capturing the beauty of a dog doing what it was bred to do.  As an ecologist, geographer and all around nature-nut, my other favourite subject matter is the natural world, particularly the wild plants and animals that grace the prairie of southern Alberta, where I live. Painting for pleasure tends to take second fiddle to my contract work on various ecological research, design and illustration projects.

Watercolours are my favourite medium, but I've recently ventured into the world of relief print making and am currently experimenting with combining block printing with watercolours.

Proud to live and work in Canada, I try to source my materials and supplies within Canada as much as possible.

When I have prints for sale, I cannot guarantee that they will be 100% free of dog hair and slobber, but I will do my best.
